What documents do I need with me when hiring a vehicle?
A valid driving licence (both the paper part and the card part), a utility bill or bank statement, and a credit or debit card.
How can I pay for the rental of my vehicle?
Spinning Wheels Vehicle Rentals Ltd. Ltd. only accepts credit or debit cards.
Will my self-drive hire vehicle be rented to me with any fuel?
The vehicle will have a certain amount of fuel and we will mark on the damage sheet how much fuel is in the vehicle. We expect the vehicle to be returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was checked out. We will charge by 1/4 of a tank if there is any less than the same amount when the vehicle is checked back in. i.e. If the tank shows that there is just under 3/4 of a tank (and you rented the vehicle with 3/4 of a tank) you will be charged for 1/4 of a tank of fuel at roughly £1.40 a litre.
Do you open on Sundays and Bank Holidays?
Unfortunately, at present Spinning Wheels Vehicle Rentals Ltd. is closed for pick ups or returns on Sundays, Bank Holidays, Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years Day.
Can you meet me at Manchester International Airport, Piccadilly Train Station, or Chorlton Street bus station?
Yes we can. For us to do this you must book and request this service two weeks before the hire period. This service is available for clients that require a vehicle for 4 or more days only. However we would be happy to try and deliver this service to you at shorter notice if possible. Please contact us to discuss.
Can you collect me from my house or work?
You can request this service and we will try our best but it depends on availability and distance. This service is available for clients that require a vehicle for 4 or more days only and you must have booked two weeks in advance.
Do you have a daily distance limit?
There is a maximum of 100-miles that you can use daily. You will be charged 5 pence per mile for each additional mile over the 100 mile limit. This charge will come out of your deposit.
Do you charge for cleaning?
There is no cleaning charge unless the vehicle has been uncared for, there are any tough interior stains, or there is evidence of pets being onboard. Charges are fair and are not negotiable and will come out of your deposit.
What happens if I damage the vehicle?
Any damage to the vehicle will come out of your deposit. Charges are fair and are not negotiable. Insurance claims are subject to an excess charge.

Can I use my own insurance?
Yes you can but check with your insurance company that they will insure you for self-drive hire. We will be checking anyway at the time of hire but it helps if you know already. A discount for using your own insurance can be arranged.
Are there any additional costs to what I’ve been quoted?
No, the price you see is the price you pay. All quotes are inclusive of VAT and fully comprehensive insurance. There are also no booking fees. You will however be charged 5 pence per mile for every mile that you do over the 100 mile-a-day limit.

How old must I be, and how much driving experience do I need for your insurance cover?
To rent a car or a van you must be 23 to 75 years old with 2 years minimum driving experience.
Can I use your insurance with endorsements on my licence?
Three points for speeding are acceptable. Six points for speeding and we will raise your excess by £50. Nine points for speeding and we will not be able to cover you. If you have any other type of endorsment on your licence then please call us to check if we can insure you.
Does it matter what my occupation is if I want to use your insurance?
We are not able to insure you if you are a student, an entertainer, a sports professional or work in the armed forces.
What is a collision damage waiver (or CDW)?
If you pay a collision damage waiver (CDW) then this will protect you against having to pay the full excess amount in the event of an insurance claim. CDW charges are as follows: £10.50 per day for a car or a van, this will reduce your excess charge to £375 (from £750 without CDW). We can't offer CDW for the hire of a minibus.
